BioEdge is the trade name for the "bio-co-polymer" edgeband product made with BioBest, a proprietary plastic material made from CORN. BioBest is produced by Diaserve, Inc. of Blooming Prairie, Minnesota. BioEdge is the complete bio-replacement for PVC and ABS edgeband. BioEdge is totally free of PVC and contains no chlorine or other hazardous chemicals. In fact, standard BioEdge contains as little as 8% of non-hazardous petroleum-based plastic. The environmentally friendly movement has gained significant momentum as many governments, organizations and businesses have committed publicly to utilization of more environmentally sensitive products and processes. "Bio-based" materials are viewed as the ultimate "Green" solution by many of these entities. Because BioEdge is made from corn, an annually renewable crop, and contains as little as 8% of non-hazardous petroleum-based plastic, many sectors of the environment and society benefit. BioEdge is price competitive with and performs as well as PVC or ABS plastics without containing the hazardous chemicals of these materials. As is well known, PVC plastic contains chlorine and other toxic and carcinogeous plasticizers and additives. According to the US Green Building Council ("USGBC"), ABS utilizes several hazardous chemicals in its production. According to standard plastic hazard classification, ABS is only slightly less hazardous than PVC. BioEdge has no toxic VOC emissions, a low smoke index and is mechanically and thermally stable. BioEdge is a true replacement for PVC/ABS edgebanding. BioBest has many commercial applications to help your organization, business or governmental agency achieve its environmental objectives.
